A place where every child belongs.
At Geelong Lutheran College we believe that we have been brought together by God’s love in this time and place to learn, grow, serve, worship, and to care for one another. We see our vocation as that of serving God and serving God’s children.
We believe each child is a unique and special person created in God’s image. It is a privilege to partner with parents and families as we walk with our students on this stage of their life’s journey—which emphasises growth spiritually, physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
Along with a focus on academic excellence, we believe that a holistic approach to education is delivered through experiences which enhance students’ social and emotional development, physical and mental wellbeing. This is enhanced through a strong faith-based Pastoral Care program. Students begin most mornings with their Pastoral Teacher and classmates for devotion, which is an opportunity for sharing God’s word, prayer and connection with each other. Students also meet weekly for Chapel, led by our chaplain, senior staff or by class groups.
In the Secondary School, Pastoral Teachers are supported by a Dean of Students for each Learning Community (Nurture: Year 7/8, Evolve: Year 9/10, Nexus: Year 11/12). Each Dean of Students also supports the pastoral needs of the students and is responsible for the tailored pastoral programs we run for each Learning Community.
