Thirteen staff members from across Geelong Lutheran College recently undertook a two-day Youth Mental Health First Aid course. Staff learned skills and gained confidence to assist young people experiencing mental health problems.
They learned about adolescent development and the signs and symptoms of mental health problems, how and where to get help and what sort of help has been shown by research to be effective. Ten percent of staff at Armstrong Creek have now had Youth Mental Health First Aid training.
