Parent-Teacher Interviews
We value our relationship with parents and seek to work with them.
On-going communication between parents, students and teachers is vital for student success and confidence. This occurs through the development of positive and open communication through meetings, formal interviews, information sessions and class newsletters.
Parents are encouraged to maintain contact with their child’s teacher.

Parent Involvement
Geelong Lutheran College values the active involvement of parents in its programs and fundraising efforts. The College’s aims can only be achieved if parents are aware of, and are actively involved in the life of the College.
Parents can support their children and the staff in many ways and are urged to consider in what capacity they may best contribute to their children’s education. A range of formal and informal opportunities exists for parents at a level of commitment of their own choice.
Parents are encouraged to volunteer in various ways, including:
- Sporting events and programs
- Classroom helpers
- The Learning Assistance Program
- Excursions and Camps, etc.
- Guest speakers sharing their work experience or particular skills
- Library support
Volunteers
All volunteers over the age of 18 are required to have a Working with Children Check before taking part in School-related activities involving students. Parents, Guardians, Caregivers who wish to volunteer are required to undergo training in Valuing Safe Communities sessions.
Parents & Friends
Parent participation is critical to the effectiveness and success of the P & F. All parents are encouraged to take an active role in the Parents and Friends by supporting the various activities that may be planned each year to foster fellowship throughout the school community and to raise funds to assist the School in providing the students with a high standard of equipment and resources.
The P & F is established under the approval of the College Board and is required to act under the policies of the College and under the direction of the Principal.
The P&F is invited, in consultation with the Principal, to identify projects it may wish to support. Funds raised by P & F activities may be used to support the provision of: internal and external furnishings, equipment, resources for the library, playground equipment, games, musical instruments, classroom and library books plus a wide range of invaluable aids to the students’ education, comfort and enjoyment. We are blessed at GLC to have two P & F committees, one at our St John's Newtown campus and one at our Armstrong Creek Campus.
