Term 1 always features many exciting events and programs, including the first House Sporting carnivals of the year.

GLC St John's Newtown Cross Country

There was plenty of enthusiasm, determination and house pride on display at the GLC St John's Newtown Cross Country on Friday 14 February! 

For the first time, the Cross Country was held at the GLC Armstrong Creek Campus, where the St John's Newtown Year 3 – 6 students gave it their all over two or three laps of the 1km course depending on their age. Thank you to all the families who travelled to Armstrong Creek to join our students and staff cheering on each race. It was lovely to have a few GLC Armstrong Creek classes stop by too to cheer on their GLC peers.

Congratulations to Higgins House for taking out the overall win on the day with the most House Points!

GLC Armstrong Creek Swimming Carnival

The Armstrong Creek Campus also got it's sporting events calendar underway in February, with the annual Secondary Swimming Carnival.

The Kardinia Aquatic Centre was full of good-natured competition, house spirit and laughs, as our students took part in heats and finals for freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. There were also plenty of novelty events in and out of the water, including noodle relay races and tug of war.

Well done to all the students who competed and cheered on their classmates in the pool, and congratulations to Breamlea on retaining the Swimming Carnival Shield for 2025!

The Term's sporting activities aren't over yet, as we look towards the GLC St John's Newtown Year 3-6 Athletics Carnival and GLC Armstrong Creek Primary and Secondary Cross Countries in the coming weeks.
