It’s been another busy week at GLC. Our annual Secondary Swimming Carnival was held on Tuesday 25 February, in perfect weather. As well as our swimming races, there was the opportunity for students to be involved in novelty events both on land and in the water. For the last carnival of their secondary schooling, our Year 12’s were all dressed up in their ‘TV show’ theme. The positive atmosphere of the day was palpable. A favourite activity is always the opportunity to go on the waterslide at the end of the day, as well as the annual biggest splash competition. This year, the teacher/student race proved a highlight, and the winners were… the STUDENTS!!
For our staff and some of our students, the school week extended to Saturday last week with our annual Open Morning. Teachers prepared vibrant displays and shared their passion for their subject areas as our prospective parents and students engaged in a guided tour of the College.
Our Year 11/12 students were involved in their second Christian Studies seminar on Monday, 2 March. Vicki Gollasch from ALWS (Australian Lutheran World Services) provided us with insightful information about developing countries. Through the activities presented, we were again confronted with the challenges that faced the many millions of people living in poverty.
We trust that our students will enjoy what the second half of the term holds in their subjects and any upcoming co-curricular activities.
