Teaching & Learning Leader

Geelong Lutheran College St John's Newtown is seeking an experienced, vibrant, and innovative Teaching & Learning Leader to join our dedicated and dynamic team. The Teaching and Learning (T&L) Leader is responsible for providing coordination of Teaching & Learning, including the management of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP).

 The (T&L) Leader is a member of the Primary Leadership Team, working closely with classroom and specialist teachers to lead the implementation of the general T&L strategies, assessment, staff development, budget control and resourcing: in addition to the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) to maximise student outcomes.

German Teacher - Primary (0.5 FTE)

Geelong Lutheran College is seeking a dynamic and passionate individual to join our Primary team commencing in Semester 1 in 2026. 

Reporting to our Head of Primary, this position will be teaching German to our Primary students. As a valued member of our team, you will be part of making a real difference by positively impacting our student experience and contributing to our College community. 

This is a part-time (0.5 FTE) 12-month fixed term opportunity, based at our Armstrong Creek campus. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong passion for the German Language and commitment to professional development and will also be comfortable utilising learning technologies.  

Key Duties 

  • Deliver learning programs that demonstrate a research-based knowledge of how students learn, including integrating formative practice and providing continuous feedback  
  • Prepare instructional activities that facilitate engaging and appropriate learning opportunities for all  
  • Provide a safe and supportive classroom culture  
  • Contribute to our visible wellbeing program to enable students to thrive and belong  
  • Model and live the Geelong Lutheran College values and behaviours 

Skills and Experience   

  • Hold a current VIT Registration  
  • Hold a Teaching Qualification alongside exceptional knowledge in German  
  • Experience teaching at PYP would be advantageous 
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional development 
  • Ability to connect positively with students and show genuine care for their learning 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team

Certificate III in Education Support - Sport & Outdoor Education Trainee

Geelong Lutheran College are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic applicant for the position of Certificate III in Education Support - Sport & Outdoor Education Trainee. The purpose of this position is to assist the Sports Coordinator and the Outdoor Education staff to promote student and staff involvement in extra-curricular activities and excursions through the sport and outdoor education programs. The role supports the conducting of the sport and outdoor education programs by organising trips, excursions, equipment, bookings and consent forms, and working with the relevant staff members to organise any other jobs required for the excursion/camp.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To be a positive and influential role-model for students and demonstrate our school values of Wisdom, Honour and Purpose.
  • To take the opportunity to follow a passion for sport and the outdoors whilst working in a dynamic, inclusive and fun team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:

To assist the Sports Administrator & Outdoor Education teachers through:

  • Assist Physical Education, and Outdoor Education staff with classes and co-curricular activities
  • Assist in coaching and supervision of and managing teams involved in sporting events
  • Assist the Sports Administrator & Outdoor Education staff with administration of School Sport & Outdoor camps and excursions
  • Attend Sport & Outdoor Education camps and excursions 
  • Assist with administration tasks in conducting the outdoor education and school sporting program: including gear preparation and maintenance, consent forms and student attendance, bookings and trainings
  • Assist with transition and engagement of students across the College

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 

Please note that as this position is a traineeship, the successful applicant will undertake nationally recognised training as part of their employment. The exact qualification undertaken is negotiable and Geelong Lutheran College will work with the successful applicant in determining the best qualification upon appointment. The applicant will be given adequate time within their working week, and during school holidays to undertake the training, and it is essential that this training be maintained in order to continue in the role. 

Particular skills to be concentrated on during formal training: 

  • Remote Area First Aid Qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Community Surf Lifesaving
  • Experience in Microsoft suite
  • Cert III in Education Support (enrolled upon appointment)

Learning Coach

Geelong Lutheran College St John's Newtown is seeking an experienced, innovative and dynamic Learning Coach (Student Support) to join our collegiate, skilled, and esteemed academic staff.

As a Learning Coach, you work under the direction of the Head of Primary providing support for identified students as they work to achieve the academic goals and social skills required for independent learning and confident participation in the College and wider community. This position involves collaboration with other members of the Learning Support team, classroom teachers and families across the College. This role will have a focus in our Primary school.

This position is 5 days per work (0.76 FTE) commencing term 1 2026.
